【摘要】:Accuratemeasurementoforganiccarboninwateratlowandverylowlevelsisofparticularinteresttotheelectronic,pharmaceutical,andsteampowergenerationindustries.Elevatedlevelsoforganicsinrawwatertendtodegradeionexchangeresincapacity.Elevatedlevelsoforganicsinhighpuritywatertendtosupportbiologicalgrowthand,insomecases,aredirectlydetrimentaltotheprocessesthatrequirehighpuritywater.Inthecaseofsteampowergeneration,naturallyoccurringorganicscanbecomedegradedtoCO2andlowmolecularweightorganicacidsthat,inturn,arecorrosivetotheprocessequipment.Theireffectonconductivitymayalsocausewaterchemistryoperatingparameterstobeexceeded,callingforplantshutdown.Inprocesswaterinotherindustries,organiccarboncansignifyin-leakageofsubstancesthroughdamagedpipingandcomponents,oranunacceptablelevelofproductloss.Inwastewatertreatment,organiccarbonmeasurementofinfluentandin-processwatercanhelpadjustoptimizetreatmentschemes.Measurementoforganiccarbonatdischargemaycontributetoregulatorycompliance.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheselection,establishment,andapplicationofmonitoringsystemsforcarbonandcarboncompoundsbycontinualsamplingorcontinuousflow-through,automaticanalysis,andrecordingorotherwisesignalingofoutputdata.Thesystemchosenwilldependonthepurposeforwhichitisintended(forexample,regulatorycompliance,processmonitoring,ortoalerttheusertoadversetrends)andonthetypeofwatertobemonitored(lowpurityorhighpurity,withorwithoutsuspendedparticulates,purgeableorganics,orinorganiccarbon).Ifitistobeusedforregulatorycompliance,thetestmethodpublishedorreferencedintheregulationsshouldbeusedinconjunctionwiththistestmethodandotherASTMtestmethods.Thetestmethodcoverscarbonconcentrationsof10g/Lto5000mg/L.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSection9.
